Background Cathie is dedicated to assisting residents age 60 and up with quality of life issues. Aside from providing a friendly foundation for many of her clients, Cathie is also a dedicated advocate and works tirelessly to assist them with public benefits applications and direct referrals, and additionally holding educational workshops and social programming activities, such as the popular monthly Seniors Jazz Bingo. Cathie likes to call RPCC her “home away from home.” She often rides her bike or walks to the office, where her elderly beagle Pudding Pie is the unofficial mascot. Cathie considers it an honor to work with so many talented people and to interact with the senior population in meaningful ways.
Education Cathie graduated from Glenbrook North High School in the northern suburbs. People are sometimes surprised to learn that she never pursued a degree from a four-year university.
Experience Cathie’s professional background lies in the editorial and publishing arena. She was introduced to the nonprofit community service sector through volunteer work with a small south-side organization. Prior to that, she served as assistant to a daily columnist at the Chicago Tribune newspaper.
Personal Cathie grew up in a suburb of Chicago and has lived in Rogers Park for nearly 20 years (including a stint here in early adulthood). She is proud to be a first-generation American who appreciates Rogers Park’s multi-ethnic character. Cathie is an avid reader and writer, a lover of animals and a classically trained pianist. She also aspires to ameliorate her Spanish-speaking skills in the months to come.
